The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Budhdhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, and the Royal Embassy of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, organized the “Dates Officially Handing Over Ceremony-2024” on Wednesday, March 6, 2024, at the DMRCA Conference Hall. This event was graced by the Chief Guest, His Excellency Khalid Hamoud Al-Kahtani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Sri Lanka. His Excellency Ameer Ajwad Ambassador designate to Saudi Arabia, Mr.Somarathne vithana Pathitana, the Secretary to the Ministry of Budhdhasasana, Religious Affairs, Mr.Ibrahim bin Muhammad Al-Harbi, representative of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center, who were the Special Guest of Honors, officials of the King Salman Humanitarian Aid and Relief Center and the Royal Embassy of Saudi Arabia-Sri Lanka, distinguished invitees, and several others attended the event.![]()
The event was presided over by Mr. Z. A. M. Faizal, the Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs. The program began with Qirath. Mr. N. Nilofer, Assistant Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, made the welcoming remarks.![]()
His Excellency, Mr. Ameer Ajwad, the Ambassador Designate to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, said in his brief speech that the Kingdom has been with Sri Lanka in good and bad times. He further added that Ambassador AlKahtani is one of the best ambassadors Sri Lanka has ever had, which would strengthen bilateral relations between both countries to new heights.![]()
His Excellency Khalid Hamoud Al-Kahtani, the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Sri Lanka, praised the great humanitarian efforts undertaken by the King Salman Relief Center around the world, which reflect the keenness of the government of the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al-Saud and HRH Crown Prince and Prime Minister, to stand with brotherly and friendly countries and peoples in various circumstances and tribulations.![]()
Noting the need to strengthen the relationship between the Kingdom and the Republic of Sri Lanka, the Ambassador requested that the potential beneficiaries of this gift communicate swiftly with the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs to obtain the Kingdom’s gift for the Sri Lankan people and benefit from it for the holy month of Ramadan.![]()
Excellency Khalid Hamoud Al-Kahtani, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Sri Lanka, officially handed over a gift of 50 tons of dates from the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman Bin Abdulaziz, to Mr.Somarathne Pathitana, the Secretary to the Ministry of Religious Affairs, and Mr. Z. A. M. Faizal, the Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.![]()

The Government of Saudi Arabia has granted a quota of 3500 pilgrims from Sri Lanka this year. The Saudi Government has also introduced more facilities and new guidelines for the benefit of the Hajj pilgrims and the Hajj Travel Operators who would be taking pilgrims for Hajj pilgrimage this year. ![]()

Hon. Minister had a bilateral meeting with His Excellency the Minister of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia. During the meeting, Hon. Minister thanked the Hajj and Umrah Ministry of Saudi Arabia for the arrangements and facilities extended to the Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrims in the past years and briefed him on the arrangements made by the Ministry of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hajj Committee of Sri Lanka and the Department of Muslim and Religious and Cultural Affairs so far for the Hajj pilgrims from Sri Lanka in the year 2024. ![]()

Hon. Minister of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs further made a request to increase the Hajj quota for SriLanka and to provide additional Besa( Free Movement Passes) to be distributed among Hajj Travel Operators to enable them to assist and guide the Hajj pilgrims during the pilgrimage. He also requested the Minister of Hajj and Umrah to grant permission for Foreign passport holders of Sri Lankan origin to perform Hajj under the quota allocated for Sri Lanka. His Excellency the Minister of Hajj and Umrah assured that the Hajj and Umrah Ministry would consider the proposals of the Hon. Minister favourably and extend all required assistance to the Sri Lanka Hajj Mission.![]()

Hon. Minister of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs signed the Hajj Agreement with the Ministry of Hajj and Umrah of Saudi Arabia on the arrangements and facilities to be extended to the Sri Lankan pilgrims during the Hajj pilgrimage this year, at a ceremony at the Aseela Hotel in Jeddah on 7th January 2024. Minister also met Dr. Osama Danish, Head of South Asia Esatanlishment for Hajj Affairs and Mr. Suhair Sadayo, CEO of the Rawaf Mina for Hajj Services Company at separately and discussed with them on the new guidelines introduced by the Government of Saudi Arabia with regard to facilities to be extended for the Hajj pilgrims in Mina this time. ![]()
His Excellency Dr. Osama Danish, Head of South Asia Establishment for Hajj Affairs hosted a dinner in honour of the Hon. Minister and the delegation on 6th January 2024 at the Romeo hotel in Jeddah. ![]()
Further, Hon. Minister visited the Consulate General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah and advised the staff on the facilities and assistance to be extended to the Sri Lankan Hajj pilgrims this year. ![]()

Minister had a meeting with Mr. Mohammed Sadhahan ( Sadique Hajiar) who is the current caretaker of the ‘Ceylon House’ building at the Consulate General.Mohammed Sadhahan ( Sadique Hajiar) briefed the Hon. Minister and the delegation on the current status of the ‘Ceylon House’ building in Makkah. He agreed to the advice of the Hon. Minister to form a Committee consisting of Sri Lanka Ambassador in Riyadh, Consul General of Sri Lanka in Jeddah, Chairman, Hajj Committee of Sri Lanka, Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs and Mr. Mohammed Sadhahan ( Sadique Hajiar) with regard to the management of the property in future. Hon. Minister further suggested H. E. the Ambassasir of Sri Lanka in Riyadh to send a report, based on the discussion held on 7th January 2024, to the relevant Ministries in ![]()

The Ministry of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs had organized this year’s National Meelad Celebration, on Sunday, 22nd October 2023 at 10.00 am at the Musali National School - Mannar.![]()
The National Meelad program that was arranged on this occasion was graced by Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka, Minister of Buddasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, Hon. Kathar Masthan, State Minister for Rural Economy, DCC Chairman for Mannar and Mullaithivu Districts. and Senior Diplomats of Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, India, Religious dignitaries of Buddhist, Hindu and Islam, Government Officials , Principals of Schools, Members of the Business Community and general public.![]()

This event was presided by Mr. Z. A. M. Faizal, the Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs. The program began with the National Anthem and Qirath delivered by Al Hafil N. M. Jamirus Shafi.![]()

Ash-Sheikh Dr. B.Nihmathullah made a key note religious speech explaining the importance of Meelad celebration and with examples of life of Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him) his achievements in his lifetime. ![]()

The Director is Mr. Z.A.M. Faizal made the welcoming remarks. Hon. Ranil Wickramasinghe, the President of the Democratic Socialist Republic of Sri Lanka, addressed the guests and Hon. Kathar Masthan, who is the state minister for rural economy and DCC Chairman of Mannar and Mullaithivu Districts, spoke on behalf of Mannar district. A cultural program was performed by students at Erukalampitiya Mahalir Maha Viddiyalaya. Master Thazki Thasleem made a speech about Musali area in Mannar and Mr. Ayyash Rila performed at a Virudhu Cultural Event.![]()
The Katheebs and Muazzins, who have served for more than 30 years in the mosques in the Mannar district, were awarded certificates and cash rewards in appreciation for their services. ![]()

2023.10.10 ஆம் திகதி, புதிதாக ஜுமுஆ ஆரம்பிப்பது தொடர்பில் மார்க்க மற்றும் நிர்வாக ரீதியான அனுமதியை வழங்குவது பற்றிய கலந்தாலோசனைக் கூட்டம் முஸ்லிம் சமய பண்பாட்டலுவல்கள் திணைக்களத்தின் கேட்போர் கூடத்தில் நடைபெற்றது. இதில் இலங்கை வக்பு சபையின் தலைவர் அல்ஹாஜ் எம்.எல்.எம்.எச்.எம். முஹிதீன் ஹுஸைன் மற்றும் அதன் உறுப்பினர்கள், முஸ்லிம் சமய பண்பாட்டலுவல்கள் திணைக்களத்தின் பணிப்பாளர் இஸட்.ஏ.எம். பைஸல் மற்றும் திணைக்கள உத்தியோகத்தர்கள் உட்பட அகில இலங்கை ஜம்இய்யத்துல் உலமாவின் தலைவர் அஷ்ஷைக் முப்தி எம்.ஐ.எம். ரிஸ்வி, நிறைவேற்றுக் குழு மற்றும் ஃபத்வா குழு உறுப்பினர்கள் கலந்துகொண்டனர்.![]()
இக்கூட்டத்தில் ஜுமுஆப் ஆரம்பிப்பது தொடர்பில் உரிய பொறிமுறையொன்று வகுக்கப்பட வேண்டுமென ஏகமனதாக தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது. அத்துடன் புதிதாக ஓரிடத்தில் ஜுமுஆ ஆரம்பிப்பதற்கான உரிய களஆய்வு மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டு சிபாரிசு வழங்குவதற்கு உத்தியோகபூர்வ குழுவொன்றும் நியமிக்கப்பட்டது. மேலும் குறித்த குழுவே நாடளாவிய ரீதியில் புதிதாக ஜுமுஆக்களை ஆரம்பிப்பது தொடர்பான வழிகாட்டல்களை வழங்கும் என தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது.

According to Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), every human being has equal rights. His teachings were based on the noble concept of equality where one person is not superior or inferior to another because of race, caste or color.![]()

The way Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) contributed for human values and humanity in an era full of hatred and conflicts is truly an example for all of us. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) opposed the exploitation of people and worked for the freedom of slaves. An example of this is when he said that workers should be paid before their sweat dries up.![]()

It is a great privilege for me to extend my greetings on the occasion of the National Milad-un-Nabi festival, as I always seek harmony between nations, different religions and different cultures.![]()
I regard it as an urgent need for all of us Sri Lankans to pay special attention to the basic principles of peace, harmony, non-hatred and sacrifice in simply introducing the activities of the Prophet who introduced Islam to the world for the benefit of the people regardless of religion, political parties or caste and gender.![]()
Such opportunities will help the Muslim people, who have been working in Unity and harmony with the Sinhalese and other races of Sri Lanka since time immemorial, to further promote it. On the occasion of this National Milad festival, let us all remember that all the people living all over Sri Lanka should not be divided and move forward for the victory of Mother Sri Lanka.![]()

இன்று 03-05-2023ம் திகதி புதன்கிழமை புத்தளம் பௌத்த மத்திய நிலையத்தில் இரத்ததான நிகழ்வொன்று இடம்பெற்றது. இந்நிகழ்வில் இரத்த வங்கியினால் வழங்கப்பட்ட எண்ணிக்கையை விட அதிகமான சகோதர, சகோதரிகள் கலந்து கொண்டு இரத்ததானம் வழங்கியமை குறிப்பிடத்தக்கது. இந்நிகழ்வின் வெற்றிக்காக சகல வழிகளிலும் உதவி புரிந்த அனைருக்கும் திணைக்களம் சார்பான நன்றிகளையும், பிராத்தனைகளையும் தெரிவித்துக் கொள்கிறோம்.

சவுதி அரசாங்கம் சவுதி தூதரகம் ஊடாக எமது திணைக்களத்திற்கு வழங்கப்பட்டு விநியோகிக்கப்பட்ட பேரித்தம் பழங்களின் விபரம்
சவுதி அரசால் இலங்கையின் சவுதி தூதரகம் மூலம் 50 மெட்ரிக் தொன்கள் பேரீத்தம் பழங்கள் எமது திணைக்களத்திற்கு வழங்கப்பட்டன. ஏற்கனவே குறிப்பிட்ட 36 தொன்களிற்கு மேலதிகமாக 13.04.2023 திகதி மேலும் 14 மெட்ரிக் தொன் பேரீத்தம் பழங்களை சவுதி தூதரகம் வழங்கியது. இப் பேரீத்தம் பழங்களை கொண்டு செல்வதற்கான போக்குவரத்து பிரச்சினை மற்றும் நோன்பின் இறுதிக் காலம் போன்றவற்றை கருத்தில் கொண்டு அவற்றை கொழும்பு மாவட்டத்தினை அண்மித்த மாவட்டங்களான கம்பஹா, களுத்துறை, காலி, புத்தளம் மற்றும் கேகாலை மாவட்டங்களுக்கு விநியோகிப்பது என தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டு போக்குவரத்து வசதி மற்றும் அனைத்து செலவுகள் தூதரகத்தின் உதவியுடன் தற்போது விநியோகிக்க நடவடிக்கை மேற்கொள்ளப்பட்டுள்ளது.![]()

அத்தோடு மேற்கூறிய 50 மெட்ரிக் தொன் பேரீத்தம் பழங்களுக்கு மேலதிகமாக 15 இற்கும் அதிகமான மெட்ரிக் தொன்கள் அளவில் சவுதி தூதரகத்தின் மூலம் நேரடியாக இலங்கையிலுள்ள பள்ளிவாசல்கள், அரபு மத்ரஸாக்கள், அமைப்புகள், சிறைச்சாலைகள், பாடசாலைகள் போன்றவைகளிற்கும் வழங்கபட்டுள்ளது.![]()

ரமழான் மாதம் ஆரம்பிப்பதற்கு முன்னர் நாம் வழமை போல் இலங்கையில் உள்ள முஸ்லிம் நாடுகளின் தூதரகங்களுக்கு அதிகளவு பேரீச்சம் பழங்களை தரும் படி கோரிக்கைகளை முன்வைத்திருந்தோம். அந்த வகையில் இவ் வருடத்திற்காக சவூதி அரசாங்கத்தினால் சவூதி தூதுவராலயத்தின் மூலம் எமது நாட்டிற்கு 50 மெற்றிக் தொன்கள் கிடைத்ததாக அறியக் கிடைத்தது. ![]()

எனினும் இவ்வருடம் 50 மெற்றிக் தொன் பேரீத்தம் பழங்களே சவூதி அரசாங்கத்தின் மூலம் இலங்கையிலுள்ள சவூதி தூதுவராலயத்திற்கு கிடைத்துள்ளதாகவும் கௌரவ ஜனாதிபதி அவர்களின் வர்த்தமானி அறிவித்தலின் படி 1 KG இற்கு 1 ரூபா வீதம் சுங்க வரி செலுத்தி சுங்கத்திலிருந்து விடுவிப்பதற்கு அனுமதி பெற்றுத் தருமாறும் வேண்டுகோள் விடுக்கப்பட்டது. அதன்படி புத்தசாசன மற்றும் மத விவகார அமைச்சின் செயலாளரின் அனுமதி பெற்றுக் கொடுக்கப்பட்டது.![]()

அவ்வனுமதிக்கேற்ப சவூதி தூதுவராலயம் சுங்கத்திலிருந்து விடுவித்து எமது திணைக்களத்திற்கு 30 தொன்களை வழங்கியது. எமது திணைக்களத்திற்கு வழங்கப்பட்ட 30 தொன் பேரீச்சம்பழங்களில் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட பள்ளிவாசல்களுக்கு மட்டுமே வழங்கப் போதுமானதாகக் காணப்பட்டது. எமது திணைக்களத்தில் 2,459 பள்ளிவாசல்கள் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்டுள்ளன. ஒரு பள்ளிவாசலுக்கு 14 கிலோகிராம் அடிப்படையில் 2,264 பள்ளிவாசல்களுக்கு 31,696 KGS பேரீத்தம் பழங்கள் வழங்க தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டது. சில நிறுவனங்களும் பள்ளிகளும் தமக்கு நன்கொடையாக கிடைக்கப் பெற்ற பேரீத்தம் பழங்களை அவர்களால் தெரிவு செய்யப்பட்ட பள்ளிகளுக்கு (195) கொடுப்பதாக எமது திணைக்களத்துடன் செய்து கொண்ட உடன்படிக்கையின் அடிப்படையில் அக் குறித்த பள்ளிகளுக்கு எமது திணைக்களத்தினால் பேரீத்தம் பழங்கள் பகிர்ந்தளிக்கப்படாமல் குறித்த நிறுவனங்களின் மூலம் பகிர்ந்தளிப்பதற்கான ஏற்பாடுகள் செய்யப்பட்டன. ![]()

அத்தோடு சவூதி தூதுவராலயத்தினால் வழங்கப்பட்ட 30 தொன் இற்கு மேலதிகமாக 1,696 மபள பேரீத்தம்பழங்கள் தேவைப்பட்டதனால் அவற்றை திணைக்களம் தனியார் நலன்புரி நிறுவனங்களின் மூலம் வழங்குவதற்கான ஏற்பாடுகளை மேற்கொண்டது.![]()

மேலும் 2023.04.10 ஆம் திகதி சவூதி தூதுவராலயத்தின் மூலம் மேலும் 6 தொன்களை எமது திணைக்களத்திற்கு வழங்கினார்கள். நோன்பு காலத்தின் இறுதிப் பகுதி என்பதனாலும் கிடைக்கப்பெற்ற அளவு குறைவு என்பதனாலும் அவற்றை கொழும்பு மாவட்டத்திலுள்ள பதிவு செய்யப்படாத மற்றும் பதிவு செய்யப்பட்ட பள்ளிவாசல்களுக்கு பகிர்ந்தளிக்கத் தீர்மானிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.![]()

The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, in coordination with the Ministry of Budhdhasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs, organized a Religious Observance program on the occasion of the 75th Independence Day celebration on Saturday, 4th February 2023 at the Colombo Grand Mosque. This event was graced by Hon. Ali Sabry, PC., MP., Minister of Foreign Affairs, who was the Chief Guest and Hon. Nazeer Ahmed MP. ,Minister of Environment. Who was the Special Guest of Honor Member of the Wakf Tribunal, Former members of Wakf board, respective Ulamas, Trustees and Jamath members of the Colombo Grand Mosque, Distinguished Invitees and several others attended the event.

The event of oath-taking on the first working day of the new year, 2023 held at the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs (MRCA) on Monday, 2nd January 2023 at the premises of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs at 180, T. B. Jayah Mawatha, Colombo 10, under the leadership of Mr. M.L.M. Anver Ali, Assistant Director of the Department of MRCA. ![]()

The event commenced with the hoisting of the National Flag by Mr. M.L.M. Anver Ali (A.D) and the National anthem was played. Then, two minutes of silence was observed to commemorate the members of the Armed Forces and Police, who sacrificed their lives to safeguard the sovereignty, integrity, and unity of Sri Lanka. All staff members of the Dept. of MRCA took oaths that they would carry out their duties efficiently, and productively, with firm determination, utmost dedication, honesty, and loyalty to the public as per the guidance of the Government. ![]()

Mr. M.S. Ala Ahamed, Assistant Director of the Department of MRCA spoke on the importance of serving the people and the Government of Sri Lanka as honest, service-minded, and people-friendly employees. Food Security programme ![]()

The Food Security Division of the Presidential Secretariat has instructed to create a Food Bank/Food Exchange Societies in order to overcome lack of quality food that has caused malnutrition in the country. The Presidential Secretariat through the Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs loos asked all worshiping places to be used for Food Rank/Food Exchange Societies to share the excess food in households with needy food insecure families. Accordingly, the excess food or anyone who wishes to donate food to the families that suffer from lack of proper food, to donate such food item free of charge through worshiping places. We therefore, kindly request all the Mosque administration to ensure and arrange for a work programme to collect excess food from the Jarna'ath members of the area that are coming under the Mosque administration and to distribute them to needy people. The following steps should be taken in this regard. ![]()
1. Chief incumbent of the religious institutions in each areas take the leadership of the program. ![]()
2. Forming 1,13/FE societies, including A/L and Dhamma School students. ![]()
3. Appoint a manager to run societies ![]()
4. Preparing operational modalities, book keeping, food receiving, food storage and accounting systems for the F8/FEs with the help of a management expert. ![]()
5. Preparing the auditing and internal control system to assure the transparency. ![]()
6. Allocating a physical space- a room or build a small separate room for the FB/Fes at the selected religious institution in the area. ![]()
7. Organizing a meeting with residents in the area to create awareness on FB/FEs operational system. ![]()
8. Inviting donors/NG0s/business community/well- wishers in the area for donations. ![]()
9. Identifying severe food insecure needy families and children with acute malnutrition and registrar them as regular beneficiaries and issue membership. • ![]()
10. Purchasing basic items such as food storage baskets, tables, wrapping papers, shopping bags, record etc. ![]()
11. Creating regular publicity campaigns on the FB/ FE project at each village level. ![]()
12. Inauguration of FB/FE societies.![]()
13. Prepare annual performance reports and share with donors, well -wishers and beneficiaries. ![]()

I shall be thankful the Board of Trustees and persons in Charge of Mosque, Thakkiyas and Zaviyas to oversee this programme and arrange for distribution of food items to the needy families in the area. ![]()

அரபு கல்லூரிகளுக்கான பொதுவான ஒரு பாடதிட்டத்தை தயாரிப்பதற்காக நாட்டிலுள்ள சகல இஸ்லாமிய தரப்பினரையும் உள்ளடக்கிய 34 உலமாக்களைக் கொண்ட குழு ஒன்று நியமிக்கப்பட்டது. முதல் கட்டமாக இக்குழுவினர் பல அமர்வுகளையும் கலந்துரையாடல்களையும் மேற்கொண்டு இப்பாடத்திட்டத்தில் உள்வாங்கப்பட வேண்டிய பாட புத்தகங்களை இணங்கண்டு பட்டியட்படுத்தியதுடன் அவற்றை அனைத்து உலமாக்களும் ஏகோபித்து ஏற்றுக்கொண்டனர்.![]()

34 உலமாக்களை கொண்ட இக்குழுவை அவர்களது வேலைப்பழுக்களுக்கு மத்தியில் ஒரே நேரத்தில் ஒன்று சேர்ப்பது சாத்தியமற்ற விடயம் என்பதனால் பாடதிட்டத்தை தயாரித்தலின் இரண்டாம் கட்ட நடவடிக்கைகளை அனைவராலும் ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்ட துறைசார் அறிஞர்கள் நால்வரைக்கொண்ட குழுவிடம் ஒப்படைக்கப்பட்டு நிறைவு செய்யப்பட்டதுடன் 34 உலமாக்களை கொண்ட குழுவினரிடம் சமர்ப்பித்து அதற்கான அனுமதியும் பெற்றுக்கொள்ளப்பட்டது.![]()

The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs had arranged for National Meeladun Nabi celebration for 2022 at Jamiah Naleemiah Institute in Beruwala with the assistance of and the Board of Management of Jamiah Naleemiah Institute, Mosque Society of Chinafort Mosque and Gem and Jewellery Traders Association of Chinafort Beruwala on 9th October 2022 under the leadership of Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka, Minister of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs.![]()

Due to some technical difficulties, releasing of Commemorative Stamp was delayed. The releasing ceremony of Commemorative Stamp was held on 14th December 2022, under the leadership of Hon Ali Sabry, P.C. Minister of Foreign Affairs, and with the participation of Hon. Hafiz Naseer Ahamed, Minister of Environment, Hon. Shantha Bandara, State Minister for Mass Media, Hon. Kather Masthan, State Minister of Rural Development, Hon. Musharaff, Member of Parliament and Mr. Somarathne Vidanapathirana, Secretary, Ministry of Buddhasasana, Religious and Cultural Affair.![]()

The Department of Posts published first commemorative Stamp to honour the Muslim community in 1968 on the occasion of Islamic New Year, Hijri 1400 years. The first commemorative stamp to mark the Meeladun Nabi celebration was published by the Department of Posts in 2016 and in the years 2017, 2018 and 2021. The event was attended by the Post Master General, Mr. Ranjith Ariyaratne, Board of Management of Jamiah Naleemiah Institute and religious dignitaries representing Buddhism, Hinduism, Christianity and Islam and several other prominent members of the Muslim Community.![]()

The programme commenced with recitation of Qirath (verses of Holy Quran) by Al Hafilah Al Qariah Nuha Nuwman. ![]()

கொரோனா தொற்று கட்டுப்பாடுகள் காரணமாக, பொது மக்கள் ஒன்றுகூடுவது தொடர்பாக, சுகாதார அமைச்சு அதிகாரிகளால் கட்டுப்பாடுகள் விதிக்கப்பட்டிருந்ததன் காரணமாக அனைத்து பள்ளிவாசல்கள்/தக்கியாக்கள்/ஷாவியாக்களில் ஜும்ஆத் தொழுகையை நடத்துவதற்கு எமது MRCA/A/06/Covid/19 ம் இலக்க மற்றும் 17.06.2021 ம் திகதிய சுற்றுநிரூபத்தின் மூலம் அனுமதி வழங்கப்பட்டிருந்தமை தாங்கள் அறிந்ததே.![]()

தற்போது கொரோனா கட்டுப்பாடுகள் முழுமையாக தளர்த்தப்பட்டுள்ளதால், கொரோனா தொற்றுக்கு முந்தைய நடைமுறையின் பிரகாரம், ஜும்ஆப் பள்ளிவாசல்களில் மாத்திரம் ஜும்ஆத் தொழுகை நடத்த வேண்டும் என பல சமய அமைப்புகள் மற்றும் சில பள்ளிவாசல்களின் நம்பிக்கையாளர்கள் கோரிக்கை விடுத்து வருகின்றனர்.![]()

මෙම වසරේ ජාතික මීලාදුන් නබි උත්සවය බුද්ධශාසන, ආගමික සහ සංස්කෘතික කටයුතු අමාත්යාංශය සහ මුස්ලිම් ආගමික සහ සංස්කෘතික කටයුතු දෙපර්තමේන්තුව සමග ජාමිආ නලීමියා අධ්යාපන පීඨය, චීනකොටුව මුස්ලිම් දේවස්ථාන සංගමය සහ චීනකොටුව මැණික් හා ස්වර්ණාභරණ ව්යාපාරිකයන්ගේ සංගමය යන ආයතනවල එකමුතුවෙන් 2022 වසරේ ඔක්තෝබර් මස 09 වන ඉරු දින පෙරවරු 10.30 ට බේරුවල ජාමිආ නලීමියා අධ්යාපන පීඨයේ ශ්රවණාගාරයේ පැවැත්වීමට සංවිධානය කරන ලදී.![]()

මෙම වැඩසටහන බේරුවල චීනකොටුව අල්-හුමයිසරා ජාතික පාසලේ ශිෂ්යයන්ගේ ජාතික ගීය ගායනය කිරීමෙන් අනතුරුව බේරුවල ජාමියතුල් ෆාසියා අරාබි විදුහලේ ශිෂ්ය එම්.එච්.එම්. ෂහාම් ගේ කිරාත් පාරායනය එම්.එෆ්. සෆර් ශිෂ්යයාගේ දෙමළ පරිවර්තනය සමග ආරම්භවිය. බෞද්ධ හා හින්දු ආගමික නියෝජිතයින් නබි නායකතුමාට සුභ පතා එතුමාගේ උතුම් සේවාවන් පිළිබඳ කථා පැවැත්වූහ. අෂ්ෂෙයික් අගාර් මුහම්මද් මහතා මීලාදුන් නබි උත්සවයේ වැදගත්කම සම්බන්ධව නබි නායකතුමාගේ ජීවිත කාලයේ එතුමා විසින් ඉටුකරන ලද සේවාවන් උදාහරණ සමග විස්තර කරමින් වැදගත් කතාවක් පැවැත්වූහ. අධ්යක්ෂතුමා විසින් පිළිගැනීමේ කථාව පවත්වන ලදී. අමාත්ය හාෆිස් නසීර් අහමඩ් මහතා විශේෂ අමුත්තා වශයෙන් සහභාගිවී ලංකාවේ මුසලිම් ජනතාවගේ අවශ්යතාවයන් සහ කැමැත්ත අනාවරනය කල අතර අනාගතයේදී මුස්ලිම් සමාජයේ දියුණුව සඳහා ගත යුතු ක්රියාදාමයන් සම්බන්ධව තමාගේ කථාවේ අවධාරණය කරන ලදී. ![]()

කළුතර දිස්ත්රික්කයේ මුස්ලිම් දේවස්ථානවල අවුරුදු 10 ටත් වඩා සේවය කල කතීබ්වරුන්ටත් මුඅස්සින් වරුන්ටත් ඔවුන්ගේ සේවය අගය කර සහතික හා මුදල් ත්යාග පිරිනමන ලදී. මුස්ලිම් ආගමික හා සංස්කෘතික කටයුතු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව හා අමානා ටකාෆුල් ඉන්ෂුවරන්ස් මගින් හඳුන්වා දෙන ලද අමානා තකාෆුල් ජීවිත රකෂණය මෙම අවස්ථාවේදී නිල වශයෙන් ආරම්භ කරන ලදී. 2009 වසරේ අකුරැස්ස ගොඩපිටියේ ජාතික මීලාදුන් නබි උත්සවය පවතින අවස්ථාවේදී ත්රස්තවාදීන්ගේ බෝම්බ පහරින් ජීවිතක්ෂයට පත්වූ මුස්ලිම් ආගමික හා සංස්කෘතික කටයුතු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුවේ සේවක මර්හූම් එම්. ඒ. එම්. නව්ෂාඩ් මහතාගේ පවුලේ අයට මුස්ලිම් ආගමික හා සංස්කෘතික කටයුතු දෙපාර්තමේන්තුව විසින් මුල්ය ආධාරයක් පිරිනමන ලදී. අවසාන වශයෙන් ස්තූති කථාව වීනකොටුව මුස්ලිම් දේවස්ථාන සම්මේලනයේ අනු ලේකම් අල්හාජ් අරූස් අනස් විසින් කරන ලදී. මෙම උත්සවයේදී කලීෆතුෂ්ෂාදුලි සෙයිනුලාබ්දීන් මව්ලවිතුමා විසින් විශේෂ දුආ ප්රාර්ථනාවක් පාරායණය කරන ලදී. ![]()

The Ministry of Budhdasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs had organized this year’s National Meelad Celebration, in coordination with the Management Committee of the Jamiah Naleemiah Institute, China Fort Mosques Society and China Fort Gem And Jewellery Traders’ Association on Sunday, 09th October 2022 at 10.30 hrs at the Al Jamiah Naleemiah Auditorium Beruwala.![]()
The National Meelad program that had been arranged on this occasion was graced by Hon. Vidura Wickramanayaka, Minister of Buddasasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs and Hon. Hafiz Naseer Ahamed, Minister of Environment, Hon. Kathar Masthan State Minister for Rural Economy, Hon. Marjan Faleel Member of Parliament, Ambassadors of Indonesia and Palestine, Acting High Commissioner of the Maldives, and Senior Diplomats of Libya, Indonesia, Pakistan, Malaysia and Saudi Arabia, Religious dignitaries of Buddhist, Hindu and Islam, Government Officials , Principals of Schools, Members of the Business Community and general public.![]()
This event was presided by Mr. Ibrahim Ansar, Director of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs. The Program commenced with the National Althem sung by Al Hummaisara National School Students and Qirath by M.H.M. Saham with the translation of M.F. Safer Rahman, Students, Jamiathul Al-Fassiya Arabic College China Fort Beruwala.![]()
Religious dignitaries representing Buddhism and Hinduism offered the blessings and made speeches on the noble services of Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him). Ash Sheikh Agar Mohamed made a key note religious speech explaining the importance of Meelad celebration and with examples of life of Prophet Muhammed (Peace be upon him) his achievements in his lifetime. ![]()
Director, Mr. Ibrahim Ansar made the welcome remarks. Hon. Hafiz Naseer Ahamed made a Guest’s speech and highlighted the needs and desire of the Muslim community in Sri Lanka and reiterated the action to be taken for the betterment of the Muslim community in the future. Students of the Naleem Hajiar Ladies College performed a Cultural Programme identifying relevance of co-existence and harmony among all communities. ![]()
The Katheebs and Muazzins who have served more than 10 years in the Mosques in the Kalutara district were awarded certificates and cash reward in appreciation of their services. ![]()
The Amana Thakaful Life Insurance scheme that was introduced by the Department of Muslim Religious & Cultural Affairs and Amana Thakaful Insurance, were formally launched on this occasion. ![]()
The Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs also offered a cash donation to the family of late Mr. M. A. M. Nashard who was a member of staff of the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, killed in the bomb blast during the Meelad celebration in Godapitiya, Akuressa, in 2009. ![]()
The Vote of thanks was delivered by Al-Haj Aroos Anas Joint Secretary of China Fort Mosque Society. Special Dua prayers were conducted by Kaleefathul Shazuli Moulavi Zainulabdeen on this occasion.![]()
Over 700 people participated at this grand celebration. All guests were provided with lunch and refreshments.

Mohammad Nabil Yasir from No. 72B, Jumma Masjid Road,Palantha Agalawatha, will represent Sri Lanka in the 42nd King Abdulaziz International Holy Quran Memorization Competition will be held in Makkah from 09th to 21st September 2022.![]()
Mohammad Nabil Yasir is an Al Hafil (Memorized the Holy Quran). Also, in the year 2019/2020, he won the first place in the Al-Quran Memorization Competition organized nationally by the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs.![]()
