Massage of the Secretary
It is the trend of the time that every institution whether private or state contemplates initiating action to switch on to modern techniques to enhance its efficiency to meet the need of the time. The key approach by the government of Sri Lanka is the e-governance, which is talking about the information driven approach of connecting all institutions under one umbrella to manage easier and faster. I am very delighted to note that the Department of Muslim Religious and Cultural Affairs, a Department comes under this Ministry is taking steps to use the website to make available all necessary information regarding the Department and that of the community to its website.
It has made mentionable steps forward in the near past in making a number of improvements to the Department. They have completed a new building to house both their branches under one roof, also they make arrangements to introduce a common syllabus for all Arabic Colleges and Quran Madrasa.
As an important step in this year, it is working to establish a fully equipped information unit, for that the Deputy Director (Finance & Information) of this Department is entrusted with the task and this website is the first outcome of this initiative.
I appreciate the hard work of the Director and his staff, who are tireless in their efforts to fulfil all these requirements of the Department, which was not thought for years. I wish the Department all success in their future endeavours.

| Narrated//Abu Hazim: I asked Sahl bin Sad, "Did Allah's Apostle ever eat white flour?" Sahl said, "Allah's Apostle never saw white flour since Allah sent him as an Apostle till He took him unto Him." I asked, "Did the people have (use) sieves during the lifetime of Allah's Apostle?" Sahl said, "Allah's Apostle never saw (used) a sieve since Allah sent him as an Apostle until He took him unto Him," I said, "How could you eat barley unsifted?" he said, "We used to grind it and then blow off its husk, and after the husk flew away, we used to prepare the dough (bake) and eat it."
